Chinese president Xi Jinping has congratulated the African Union for its recent 37th summit which took place in Addis Ababa from 17th to 18th February. He underlined that the world was undergoing profound changes, the type of which had not been seen in a century. Addis Ababa. - The 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union took place in the Etiopian capital (17.-18.02). Africa Intelligence stated two days earlier that “None of Africa’s pressing political and security crises, such as those in Sudan, Ethiopia or the Sahel, are on the agenda of this weekend’s continental gathering. Instead, leaders are set to focus on drier matters such as internal reforms and Agenda 2063”. Berlin. - Ein von urgewald und Fossil Free Berlin veröffentlichtes Briefing zeigt, wie stark der Staatsfonds zur Finanzierung der deutschen Atommülllagerung nach letztem Stand in fossile Unternehmen investiert hat. Der Fonds wird von der Stiftung KENFO verwaltet. Die vier deutschen Atomkraftwerksbetreiber hatten im Jahr 2017 insgesamt 24,1 Mrd. Euro bei der Stiftung eingezahlt. Damit ist KENFO die größte öffentlich-rechtliche Stiftung Deutschlands.
